In the weeks that followed, James and Lily spent almost every day together. They explored more of Whitby’s hidden treasures—quiet coves, secret gardens, and lesser-known paths along the cliffs. With each passing day, they grew closer.

One afternoon, as they walked near the old lighthouse, James hesitated. “Can I show you something?”

“Of course,” Lily replied, curious.

James led her to a small door at the base of the lighthouse, which he unlocked with a key from his pocket. Inside, the air was cool and smelled faintly of salt.

“I found this place when I first arrived,” James said. “It’s not open to the public anymore, but I thought it was too beautiful to leave alone.”

The lighthouse’s spiral staircase led them to the top, where a panoramic view of Whitby awaited them. The sea stretched endlessly in one direction, while the town sprawled below them in the other.

“It’s incredible,” Lily whispered, her breath taken away by the sight.
