摘要:A China-Vietnam freight train, fully loaded with 2,500 tonnes of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), pulled out of the Huaihua West Railway

A China-Vietnam freight train, fully loaded with 2,500 tonnes of polyvinyl chloride (PVC), pulled out of the Huaihua West Railway Yard on June 24, heading towards Yen Vien Station in Hanoi, Vietnam.

This was the first time that the New Land-Sea Corridor Operation Co., Ltd. (NLS) has coordinated between Hunan and Ningxia to jointly undertake an international "bulk cargo-to-container" intermodal transport operation for bulk industrial products from the northwest regions of China.

This batch of PVC went through a "bulk cargo-to-container" reloading process upon arriving at the Huaihua West Railway Yard. The whole transport time will be only ten days, 50% less than the conventional sea route. Meanwhile, through the "one-stop" logistics services based on the new land-sea trade corridor, the comprehensive logistics costs will be reduced by 30%, opening an efficient and convenient channel for foreign trade businesses in northwest China to expand their overseas markets.

As a crucial node on the eastern route of the new western land-sea corridor and Hunan's only ASEAN-oriented freight hub, Huaihua now operates seven regular international logistics routes, including those to Vietnam and Laos. Leveraging the geographical advantages of the Huaihua International Inland Port and the "rapid customs clearance" mode for entry and exit by rail, the NLS Hunan Branch closely collaborates with neighboring provinces and regions such as Guizhou, Ningxia, and Chongqing through the corridor's regional synergy mechanism. Their cooperation promotes resource sharing and complementarity of advantages, enhancing the overall operational efficiency through the corridor while reducing costs and improving efficiency for inland cargo exports.

This Ningxia-Hunan-Vietnam freight train service integrates the resources from western China with the hub functions of the central regions. Whereas bulk cargo exports from the northwest regions previously relied on eastern seaports, this newly-launched "land port + land-sea corridor" model provides more direct access to the ASEAN markets. This service marks a beginning of international logistics cooperation between Hunan Province and China's northwest regions, and moreover, the new route sets a precedent for future cross-border transportation of bulk commodities like coal and minerals.
