The Ministry of Water Resources recently released a list of "Happy Rivers and Lakes" outstanding cases in 2024.

Twenty-four rivers and lakes around the country made the list, including the Liuyang River in Hunan Province.

The Liuyang River is a primary tributary of the Xiangjiang River. It is originated from the Daxihe and Xiaoxihe brooks at the northern foot of Dawei Mountain, which is part of the Luoxiao Mountain Range. With a total length of 234.8 kilometers, it flows through more than 40 towns and townships in Liuyang City and Changsha County, covering a drainage area of 4,665 square kilometers.

Thanks to the implementation of the river chief system in recent years, the Liuyang River has made remarkable progress in improving the ecological environment in its watershed areas. Today's Liuyang River has become a "Happy River", boasting picturesque scenery, clean and smooth flows, and a harmonious co-existence between the people and the river.
