A launching ceremony for the 2025 Hunan Online Shopping Event for the Spring Festival and the Xiangtan Festive Goods Fair was held at Dongfanghong Square in Xiangtan City on January 17. Nearly 100 well-known businesses promoted their high-quality specialty products on the site.
The event will last until February 5. During the event, 16 festive activities will be arranged and consumption coupons will be presented via raffle draws.
It is the first important online event in 2025. The Hunan Department of Commerce has organized participation of such e-commerce platforms as Douyin, Meituan, JD, and Ule shopping website, and coordinated cities and prefecture, to provide high-quality and competitively priced goods and services focusing on key areas like quality consumption, trade-in of old consumer goods, and service consumption. A consumption environment featuring rich traditional customs and festive atmosphere of Chinese New Year is to be created.
The Ule shopping website has launched a Chinese New Year Shopping Carnival to help promote Hunan's local specialties to a broader market both within and outside the province. Xingsheng Preferred E-commerce has customized a New Year supermarket for Hunan people, offering fresh seasonal agricultural products. Meituan has collaborated with millions of high-quality merchants on its platform to carry out various promotional measures, such as full-reduction offers and 50% discounts on New Year's goods, to give incentives to online Spring Festival purchases. JD has launched a special New Year Shopping column in combination with the policies on trade-in of old consumer goods, and further increased subsidies for consumers.
An Online New Year's Goods Festival was launched in Loudi, integrating online and offline promotional activities through an "agricultural and specialty products + Internet + livestreaming" mode.
Hengyang has held a week-long Digital Culture and Tourism Experience Event, utilizing new technologies such as big data, metaverse, and AI to create a series of immersive and experiential new consumption scenarios.
Meanwhile, an "African Good Products E-commerce Festival" and several specialized live-streaming rooms were launched based on the agglomeration advantages of Hunan's Africa-oriented platforms and businesses. In addition to nuts, coffee, tea, and other traditional products, a variety of new "African good products" will be promoted, including wood-based floral materials from South Africa, pineapples from Benin, and avocados from Kenya.
