I'm pretty mad about it, I can tell you.

be mad about something指“就某事非常愤怒”,如

【例句1】They're pretty mad about being lied to.

2】There's no need to get mad about it!

3】I'm pretty mad about it, I can tell you.

be mad at someone指“对某人非常愤怒”,如

【例句4】Are you still mad at me?

5】We get mad at each other sometimes, like any family.

6】She's mad at me for being late.

7】You're just mad at me because I don't want to go.

之所以用介词at, 可能是为了表达“力度朝向”,有点类似shout at someone的at。

8】Kerry got really mad with Richard for not doing the washing up.

9】His wife will be really mad with him.

with在古英语中的含义为against, opposite。be mad with的with可能是用against的对抗之义。
