In 2009, 18,000 software engineers migrated to Australia,making them the second-largest group,just ahead ofcooks, who numbered 17,000.After 2 years, the former figuregrew marginally to21,000,after which there was a remarkable fall tothe lowest point at 17,000 in 2012.Conversely, the number of cooksremained relatively stable,ranging from15,000to17,000 over the four years.
